Alex is currently Head of Product at foursquare where he and the rest of the team are working to change the way you engage with the world around you.
Alex brings over 12 years of experience in the interactive industry and a multidisciplinary background to his work, with a focus on mobile, social and emerging technologies. In 2004 he co-founded dodgeball.com, the first mobile social software application, which began as a graduate thesis project and was ultimately sold to Google in May 2005. In November 2009, he founded his own product development shop, Tinker Studio.
Prior to starting his own studio, Alex led a team of 14 amazing designers in the Schematic New York office. Before that, he was at Google where he continued to work on dodgeball.com and further explore the mobile social space. Alex began his career as a developer at Razorfish in 1998 and later transitioned to interaction design and he's never looked back.
Over the years, he has worked on various platforms including wireless, web, application, kiosk, iTV and broadband for clients including Nokia, Target, freshdirect, Mastercard, CBS, Verizon Wireless, IBM, HBO, and 3com.
He currently maintains a blog focused on innovation in design at www.everydayUX.com.
In 2004, he received his Master's degree from NYU's Interactive Telecommunications Program where he focused primarily on the intersection of community, mobile applications and technology. In 1998, he earned a Bachelor's Degree in Philosophy from Trinity College.
